Puerto Vallarta

March 4, 2009 16:08 by bjones

It's my birthday so I don't have anything to rant about today.  Cherish drove WAY out of her comfort zone to get me two growlers of the best beer I've ever had, Fire Cheif Red, and she got my a couple really nice presents.  I had a great lunch at the "Belly Buster Deli" and I'm finishing a glass of my beer now.  I figured I would take today to post a picture I took of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.  A couple days ago someone from Puerta Vallarta city hall asked to use the picture in a marketing campaign so I wrote them and said yes, no charge as long as I was credited and got a copy of whatever they did.  I never heard back so I guess our economy is so bad that free is too much (OK, I had to throw in a little rant.  After all, the world isn't made of puppies and unicorns.)

And now for the picture.  Click for a larger version.

How to create photobooth style strips in photoshop

January 12, 2009 10:50 by bjones

A friend of mine, Neil, has a yearly tradition of taking his family to the OC Fair and takingsome pictures in a photobooth.  They are never serious shots, just fun goofing around, contorted faces, pulling hair, devil horn, toungue in someone's ear type stuff.  It's a really cool idea that I'm going to do when our little girl is born.  Now, Neil has taken it to the next level and created his own "photobooth" for family holidays.  He then creates his own photobooth style strips out of pictures he's taken with the digital camera.  This year, he set up a "photobooth" at his Christmas party and it was a hit.  Read his blog post on how to create a photobooth style strip out of multiple images.  You can bet you'll see this at my next party!  If you like his idea, leave him a note.

Windstar Cruises - Caribbean

September 26, 2008 07:25 by bjones

Below is a map of our trip onboard the msy Wind Surf.   This Caribbean cruise started in sunny Barbados and took us to Nevis, St. Martin (St. Marteen), St. Bathelemy (St. Barts), Iles des Saintes and finally Pigeon Island.  It was a very luxurious cruise and I have to say that it would be very difficult for me to get back on a large ship.  The Wind Surf is one of three ships of the luxury cruise line, Windstar Cruises.  The other ships are the msy Wind Star and msy Wind Spirit.  The Wind Surf is the largest of the three.  The next one I would like to go on is their Greek Isles Cruise.

And now for the map:

Wind Surf Cruise - Geotag experiment

August 25, 2008 05:47 by bjones

In December of 2007 Cherish and I went on a caribbean cruise on the msy Wind Surf (of Windstar Cruises).  We work for the company and had a project we were completing so Neil (another IT employee of Windstar) and I took our wives for a week in Barbados.  Below are a few pictures Neil took that he geotagged.  This post is actually just to test out a way to display a single flickr set on a map.

Seattle - My Second Home

March 1, 2008 04:51 by bjones

In the last year I've traveled quite about to our Seattle office.  I love the big city life but I still wouldn't trade our weather for it!  I took this picture of the Seattle Space Needle in 2007 with the clouds starting to roll in.  On the left is the Experimental Music Project - so far I've only walked inside to the gift shop.

My brother-in-law keeps talking about a brunch he had at the top of the needle.  One of these days I'll try to make it up there and see what all the fuss is about.  But for now, my feet are happy on the ground in Seattle.
